Siena and San Gimignano
If you’re visiting Tuscany for the first time, this is a tour you don’t want to miss. The tour leaves from your lodgings in the morning and starts with a visit to Siena, the city of the Palio, with its neighborhoods, or “contrade,” its medieval aura, and its iconic shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, the heart of the city.
In the early afternoon we will head towards San Gimignano, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Settled by Etruscans in the third century BC, it is a typical medieval, walled village. San Gimignano and its numerous towers and churches hold works of art of extraordinary beauty. It is also well known for its food, Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG wine, saffron DOP, and excellent extra virgin olive oil.
